The winner will be the person who finds all the eggs adds up all the numbers and provides the correct total or the person who comes cloest if no one finds them all, and in the event of a draw we will pull a name out of a hat. Dogstar Founders Sam and Mark will send the winner a mystery Dogstar prize :)

Howzat !

As well as causality response , population control ( sterilisation ) programs and preventive animal health programs  ( vaccinations , skin and parasite treatments ) we also look to re home unwanted puppies within our local community in Sri Lanka

we have already homed 7 puppies in 2011

Dogstars Lucy

Dogstars Poppet

Dogstars 3 Stooges - Larry , Curly and Moe

Yesterday the team placed another 2 young pups into homes, Aravindas avid following of the Sri Lankan hosted Cricket World Cup may have had something to do with the naming of these 2 slightly  !

Dogstars Cricket and Kiwi

Dogstars Cricket
Dogstars Kiwi

All our rehomed pups are vaccinated and sterilised as soon as they are old enough so they don’t contribute to the unwanted dog population themselves. We are still working tirelessly to fundraise so we can run our 500 dog and cat sterilisation and vaccination outreach project in July , we have already had to postpone this clinic once and from an animal welfare point of view we cannot afford to postpone again

Please if you can help us in any way reach our fundraising goal you will be saving lives and preventing suffering , not all homeless pups in Sri Lanka are as lucky as Lucy , Poppet , Larry , Curly , Moe , Cricket and Kiwi

Sams return to Adams Peak for the Sirius 500 Appeal

Remember Sam saying she would never ever ever go within 10 miles of Adams Peak again after climbing it in January 2010 ? Well she has now said she will do it to raise money for The Sirius 500 Appeal when she is back in Sri Lanka next month.

Wikipedia says

Adam’s Peak (also Adam’s Mount; Sinhalese Samanalakanda – “butterfly mountain”, Tamil Sivanolipatha Malai – சிவனொலி பாதமலை), is a 2,243 metres (7,359 ft) tall conical mountain located in central Sri Lanka. It is well-known for the Sri Pada “sacred footprint”, a 1.8 m rock formation near the summit, in Buddhist tradition held to be the footprint of the Buddha, in Hindu tradition that of Shiva and in Muslim tradition that of Adam.

Sam says

its 4 hours of total hell , climbing over 7000 feet , including 1500 killer steps at the end when your legs are like jelly. The stunning views , the sunrise and remarkable triangle shadow do some what make up for it , then its another 2.5 hours to descend and 3 days of not being able to walk without wincing.

You can sponsor Sam and her very achey legs by clicking the logo below to make a donation via the Sirius 500 Appeal Page

Sirius 500 Appeal

In March / April 2011 Dogstar is going to do something truly amazing , we are running a 20 day capture neater vaccinate release project with another WSPA group Tsunami Animal-People Alliance (TAPA),with a target of 500 dogs and cats

Sadly our  funding source for this project was withdrawn at the 11th hour due to the donors change of circumstances , we had already committed our joint teams to the event and as these things take months to organise and so many people and animals are depending on this vital work we have decided to go ahead and raise the funds needed
We need to raise £5000 which is not a small amount of money but when you consider we plan to neuter and vaccinate 500 dogs you can see just how far that money can be made to go and the impact it can have

no amount of money raised is too small , every single pound will take us one step closer to our target and as the appeal is being managed by Justgiving gift aid is automatically collected on eligible donations

Can you bake a cake , do a sponsor silence , or a sponsored silence cake bake ?

Car boot sale , flog unwanted gifts on ebay ,flog unwanted cakes baked in silence ?

or do you have ideas of your own ( and boy do we need them )

cross post the appeal on facebook , twitter , social media and other forums
We really really really need as many people as possible to join together to help make this happen and change the lives of 500 animals in one month forever
